THE TRAP OF DUALISTIC THINKING…

Picture
Practically speaking, dualistic thinking is when you allow your mind to view the experiences or events in your life from a black and white lens.  More specifically, when you’re thinking dualistically, your mind will categorize what is happening in your life as good or bad; right or wrong; positive or negative; us vs. them; good vs. evil; etc.

Dualistic thinking is so pervasive for many people that this mindset has become an unconscious way of functioning. This is to say that this type of processing has become automatic where there is no awareness that the dualistic thinking is taking place.

From the LIA perspective dualistic thinking is a limited and faulty way of thinking and if gone unchecked will foster rigidity, become an obstacle from moving forward in your life and/ or keep you stuck.  A dualistic mindset will also generate discouragement, hopelessness, anger, bitterness, and resentfulness.  In addition, a dualistic mindset will keep you living in a fear and or a shame-based reality.  Furthermore, a dualistic mindset fosters strife, discord, polarization, and divisiveness.

From a “What if it is true perspective?”, what if all of the experiences and events that have happened, are currently happening, or will happen to you are intended to benefit you in one or more ways?  This is one of the LIA concepts which you are supported and encouraged to view and test out as a working hypothesis. The objective is to have a direct or subjective experience of the viability of this concept.

Instead of categorizing your experiences from a dualistic mindset, start training your mind to focus on understanding how the experiences and events happening in your life are benefiting you by tuning into the insights, gifts, and or lessons that are being provided.

From the LIA perspective all of the experiences and events  in your life have the “inherent potential” of increasing your awareness, which will increase your understanding, which expands your thinking/ mind and opens your heart, all of which will facilitate a transformation in one or more aspects of your life.
