TRANSFORMING FEAR FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF LIVING IN ALIGNMENT
The more identified you are with your human self/ humanity, the more likely you’ll be to live in a fear-based reality. This occurs because your mind/ intellect is limited to the confines of societal conditioning as opposed to deferring to your Soul (Source energy within) for guidance. When you’re externally resourced, your focus is on your human needs and wants and not the needs of your Soul. Furthermore, when you are externally resourced you don’t have access to the ‘bigger picture’ view of your life (such as the significance of your presence and experiences, the fact that your life has meaning and purpose, and that you’re intended to live up to your full potential and experience Soul fulfillment.
Your human self is affected by fear in four primary ways:
1. Psychological presentations of fear: being in denial, minimizing, rationalizing, spouting doom and gloom, jumping to conclusions, awfulizing, catastrophizing; also, adopting black and white thinking or feeling overwhelmed, threatened, worried, apprehensive, confused, discouraged, hopeless.
2. Emotional presentations of fear: experiencing anxiety, doubt, ambivalence, irritability, terror, panic, angst, dread, etc.
3. Physical presentations of fear: fatigue, tightness in the body, nervousness, restlessness, stuck energy, uneasiness, jitters, etc.
4. Behavioral presentations of fear: isolation, escapism, substance and/or process addictions, avoidance, dissociation, overworking, resistance, impulsive and/or reactive behavior, etc.
The following concepts and suggestions are tried and true methods to manage fear and transform your fear into self-empowerment. Try them out and allow them to become part of your spiritual practice. You’re not expected nor is it necessary to use these methods perfectly, develop the attitude that practice makes better...
Change equates to fear for the human self (to a lesser or greater degree). Normalize that fear is a human emotion and part of the human experience. From the perspective of Living in Alignment the less connected your human self is to your Soul, the more it will live in a fear-based reality. Until a new default mode (connecting with and deferring to your soul for directives) is established and becomes automatic, there will be a tendency for your mind to revert back to the old default mode of having fear in the driver’s seat.
Accept fear by recognizing it and being with it.
Utilize the three-step protocol: (1) identify when you’re feeling fear;(2) give it a voice (i.e., gain clarity as to what is causing your fear); (3) determine the appropriate course of action to effectively manage/ deal with your fear (i.e., focus on finding a solution).
Remember to breathe when you’re feeling fearful, the oxygen will calm your body and help quiet your mind. Breathe in the quality of courage to face your fear.
Develop functional internal boundaries (with your mind) to prevent your human self/ mind from awfulizing, catastrophizing, futurizing when experiencing fear.
Allow fear to serve as a cue to become internally resourced. Go inward to connect with your Soul to gain perspective on what is happening as well as to receive guidance from your Soul on how best to deal with the situation.
Separate your fear out from other people’s fear. Many people take on other people’s fear and/or the collective fear. Ask yourself, “Is this my fear?”
Be careful not to take on other people’s realities (their beliefs/cognitions, emotions, experiences, conditions).
While not taking it on, normalize the constant undercurrent of fear in our society and the world at large (a result of getting caught up in your or others peoples drama that ensues when you’re being overly identified with your humanity).
Keep in the forefront that the more your human self/ intellect defers to and relies on your Soul the less time you’ll spend being fearful.
It is your human self that experiences fear, NOT your Soul.
When you are in fear you are functioning at a lower energy frequency, and whatever you are afraid of will be transformed as you increase your energy frequency.
Increase your energy frequency by having fun, taking in beauty, embracing humor, doing art work, visualizing yourself being empowered, viewing inspirational movies, listening to music, doing yoga, dancing, praying, meditating, taking walks in nature, exercising, holding an intention to increase your energy frequency, etc.
Use breath to increase your energy frequency (breathe in the qualities you are needing in the moment) in order to calm your body and quiet your mind.
Offer tender loving care to your human self by attending to your safety, enjoying a nutritious diet, getting sufficient sleep and exercise, utilizing the qualities of an open heart to be with yourself, offer positive affirmations to yourself, etc.
Carefully decide how to expend your energy by being mindful about what you think about, your behaviors, and activities you choose to engage in.
Use discernment in choosing the people and organizations you associate with as well as what you do together. Tune into the impact of the dynamic to intuit whether or not it satisfying, nurturing, and/ or enhances individual growth.
Don’t place emphasis on fear; instead, focus on what you want to be experiencing.
When feeling fearful, send out an SOS to your Soul for assistance on how to best deal with your fear in here and now of your experiencing.
Expand your consciousness by tuning into the experiences and events that are happening and discover the possibilities/ opportunities being offered within the situation.
Let fear be your clue to keep your heart and mind open to to your human self, to your circumstances, and to the people involved.
Instead of trying to figure out what is happening, feel into what is happening. More specifically, tune into and receive the insights, gifts, and lessons that are being offered.
Listen for and receive guidance from the Soul (ask for clarification, affirmation, confirmation) every day regarding the aspects of your life that require your attention.
Guidance from your Soul is offered in many ways ( such as through people who are being a voice piece for your Soul, through your dreams, ideas being directly transmitted to your mind, through books, music, while in nature, in meditation, etc.).
Create sanctuary space in your home and tap into the energy that is generated in these spaces to neutralize/ dissipate your fear.
Use fear as an opportunity to deepen your trust in your process, in your journey, and with your Soul mission.
Yield to your Soul’s directives. Trust that more shall be revealed about the experiences or events that are taking place in your life on an as-needed basis and wait for clarity on your next step.
Be willing to be in an ‘unknowing’ place during a ‘waiting period.’ A lot is happening behind the scenes before you receive directives from your Soul regarding the next appropriate step to take along your path.
Have an attitude of gratitude that what is happening in your daily experiencing is of significance and that the information you are requesting from your Soul will be forthcoming.
In your daily living identify and claim what it is you want to be experiencing instead of focusing on what you don’t want.
Stay clear about your intentions, objectives, goals, and longings.
Keep in the forefront that all the circumstances in your life are serving/ benefiting you in one or more ways.
If need be, seek out support from family, friends, and/ or professionals to process your fear.
Remove yourself from environments and/ or people who feel unsafe to you.
Use discernment in filtering energy input. Monitor incoming information closely: such as people, news, environments that produce fear and remove yourself accordingly from the trigger.
Reframe what is happening in your own life, among those around you, as well as in the world. Look for insights, gifts, and lessons everywhere.
Focus on finding the solution to problems instead of focusing on the problem itself.
When in fear, do not abandon yourself. Instead, recognize when you’re feeling fearful and come to your own rescue.
Exercise to release endorphins, thereby increasing your energy frequency, which facilitates accessing your own truth.
When in fear, visualize a safe place and mentally immerse yourself in that place.
Trust and Surrender to your path in life- your soul mission. By doing so, you will help ensure that fear doesn’t stay in the driver’s seat.
